How to Install Google Play Store App On HCL ME U1 Tablet

HCL ME U1 is a low cost, 7-inch capacitive touch screen tablet powered by Android 4 Ice Cream Sandwich (Android 4.0.3).It features a 1GB processor, 4 GB internal memory, 512 MB RAM, 0.3 MP front camera, Bluetooth, 3G dongles for 3G access, etc. Unfortunately, HCL ME U1 misses one important feature, i.e. Google Play Store app. Though it has a Me App store to find apps, it is useless (at least for me). Here is how to install Google Play Store App on HCL ME U1 tablet.

Installing Google Play Store App on HCL ME U1 is a tricky job. So, carefully follow the instruction given below. Before installing Google Play Store app, make sure that you have enabled “Unknown sources” option on your tablet by going to Settings > Application > Unknown sources.

Step 1: Download and install a free program called “Android Commander” on your Windows computer (Download link below).

Step 2: Download Play Store apk from here or from here (or search on the internet for the latest one)

Step 3: Now connect your HCL ME tablet to your PC (require HCL ME connect for drivers of HCL U1).

Step 4: Run Android Commander and select “System” and then “App” folder. Copy and paste Play Store apk into App folder. Also copy and paste Play Store apk into your SD card.

Step 5: Now, restart your tab. You’ll get ‘android upgrading’ message, but soon you will get “Unfortunately Google play stopped working” message. However, try to open Google Play, it will show an error “Unfortunately Google stopped working” again.

Step 6: Now go to your SD card where you have Google play apk. Tap on it to install. You will get a message that you are replacing main application etc. Say ok.

Step 7: Now Google play should work. You can download apps and games from Google Play Store. That’s all!

Important Note: When you shutdown or reboot your tab, you will start getting the same “Unfortunately Google play stopped working” message again. Just follow above steps to access Google Play Store again. This is the only drawback of this method [via]

Download Android Commander (1.5MB) from here. Play Store APK can be downloaded from (http://www.mediafire.com/?071li69rh7x3yhh) or (http://www.mediafire.com/?42l9pj8zjrn0c1c)
